Official Biography

Jermyn K.Y. Voon is a dynamic, knowledgeable, hard-working, knowledge-hungry learner, persistent social media consultant, young business professional & community leader from the City of Calgary, who is passionate about civic engagement & youth involvement in politics.

He holds a Diploma in Business Administration (General Business) and is currently working towards completing a B.B.A. in Management & International Business Marketing (Minor), with an Accounting (Emphasis), both from Mount Royal University’s Bissett School of Business (Calgary, CAN), & is also working towards an International Trade Certificate through FITT (Forum for International Trade Training).

During university, Jermyn has been active on & off campus in various roles and capacities. From 2010-2011, he served as the first Regional Director – Calgary & AB Area for Société Macdonald-Cartier Society (SMCS), a not-for-profit organization with the mandate to educate young Canadians about the history of Confederation and Canada’s government structures. In addition, from July 2010-2011, he joined the Spread the Love Organization executive team as the Director of Fund Development, a non-profit humanitarian organization that mobilizes communities to combat hunger through the simple power of the sandwich.

While at university, Jermyn served as Commissioner to the VP Student Life & Student Governor with the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU), where he was a member of the Council Engagement Committee & Strategic Planning Focus Group. He also co-founded a campus club called the Democracy Club. He also volunteered with 7 different political campaign (municipal, provincial, federal & student politics). Past work experience include the Government of Canada (Canada Revenue Agency), Nexen Inc. & Institute for Nonprofit Studies (research contracts).

He is an associate member of the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta, a member of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce & AIESEC Canada and a student member of the FITT (Forum for International Trade Training).
